Adobe announces Stratus
With the release of Flash Player 10, Adobe has allowed for peer to peer connections. But to get the clients to be aware of each other, you needed a middleman to handshake the peers such as an updated version of the Flash Media Server. Now Adobe Stratus is a new beta service that will act as the middleman and connect the peers. Once the connection has been established, it’s all peer to peer traffic.
Imagine peer to peer games, video chat without a intermediate server, etc. I hope to get a demo app out once I learn a little bit about it more.
I won Best Use of Video at Flash Camp 2008!
FlashCamp 2008 was a 3 day event hosted by Adobe to allow Flash and Flex developers and designers a head start on the latest features of Flash CS4 and Flash Player 10. I was fortunate enough to go up to San Francisco and be part of this awesome event. I met a lot of people and it was really cool to meet people whose blogs I have been reading for a long time such as Lee Brimelow and Justin Everett-Church.
Among the 30 or so projects that were presented after the Hackathon, my VideoCloud won best use of video. There were some very cool projects presented and I highly suggest visiting the FlashCamp site to check it out.
Thanks Adobe for hosting such a great event!
